It’s IMMINENT future is FSD being the ONLY ONE running on Real-World AI, that allows ROBO TAXI, with 100x more GP than its car sales business. Then ENERGY is also growing at 200% P.A., again bigger than the car business. Finally, the most cost-effective, massively scaled, autonomously manufactured Humanoid Robots running GROK AGI. 10 million Car sales PA in several years will seem like petty-cash.

So Rivian is doing well - they used to lose as much as $130,000 per vehicle sold but this year 1st quarter they only lost about $38,000 per vehicle sold. When they turn a profit maybe we can put them in the same league as Tesla. And Rivian sales are worse this quarter - going wrong direction. Until then good thing VW has deep pockets because Rivian wasn't long on this planet without cash.. 👀

Which company is more hard up in that JV between Rivian and VW? I don’t see how either survives by combining this way. Even $5bil is not enough to do everything Rivian wants to do. And the dilution at such a small share price is brutal. Rivian is not any better off with this deal

Hydrogen makes no sense for consumers, it’s very inefficient unless you can use green hydrogen, costs are too high, too many parts, gas is difficult to store. If there are emissions, how can it be zero emissions ? This another opportunity to look at efficiency, avoid cheating by OEMs, if the chemistry of BEV is to be better by within 2y, 500Kwh+, it becomes hard to justify. Prices are falling fast, again the price is the main obstacle for EV adoption. Our grid needs a buffering layer, pickup up the overage , we have 800000 school buses is USA, if the are electrified, with bi-directional charging, they are used twice a day, the can meet peak load. Hydrogen only works for isolated locations, commercial or heavy duty. BEV systems are immediately usable if you have power generation figured out at or close to location, with 80%+ efficiency. ICE is 26% efficient at best. BEV provide 100% torque at zero RPM. People have shown that hybrids don’t provide the savings or reduced impact on the environment, people don’t plug them, it still burns hydrocarbons, which kills 1 in 5, there are pipe emissions regardless . Loads of data around the failed story of Hybrids. Granted the offer a solution for isolated areas where charging alternatives are poor, but if you can charge at home, most of the time, problem solved. We should better size batteries for the given usage or applications, stop super sizing. Balance the wants vs the need.

They missed the NIO EV from china... the truth is I don't really like EV cause of couple issues we hear from tesla years ago till china build EV too.. it is expensive.. if battery broken it's expensive to replace.. it takes long hours of waiting to charge your battery. now they build faster charger.. but if you fast charge your battery it only shorten the life of your EV battery.. Also range anxiety.. too.. But in NIO all the above issues is nothing.. You have no worry about bills if you replace your battery if broken.. short waiting if you go to battery swap for about 3 to 5 minutes.. and you have many options of range of KM your battery can reach.. And NIO is a quality car too..

Market analysis is great, but Unimantic should not be forgotten for their valuable contribution to crypto investments.

Surprisingly enough TDK have small Solid-State batteries in production and are about to release an even better version. The Automotive sector has missed the boat when it comes to Solid-State batteries with the Japanese giant setting the current benchmark with no other battery maker that makes EV batteries able to match the new TDK batteries for safety and energy density. 😎🇦🇺

I read that report about 46% of BEV buyers buying an ICE car with their next purchase. How many of those people are households with multiple vehicles that are happy to have a BEV for one vehicle but want an ICE for the other? Until the range and charging infrastructure improves they are probably just going to be a 50% BEV household. And having recently bought a BEV, it makes sense that their next purchase would be to refresh their non-BEV vehicle.

The VW-Rivian thing is exactly what I'm hoping will happen with Lucid. Lucid is already a little involved with the Saudi's joint ventures in their country, with good infusions of cash (Hyundai, BMW, Foxconn, Ceer, Siemens teaming). Lucid has excellent engineering, performance, etc., so you'd think somebody big in the industry might want/adopt that.

If Tesla keeps clapping out the same old generic styling designs and worst in the industry build quality, their market share will continue to fall.

I think why OEMs are focused on software and scaling up production of their EVs Tesla has moved on to AI self driving and robotaxis where owners can actually earn money with their EV. No matter how good an EV is from other manufacturers if it doesn't make an owner money it will be second fiddle to Tesla robotaxi IMHO.

He emphasizes the EV attributes and then the luxury of IF you run out of battery you have gas to fall back on. WRONG the point of PHEV is to drive DAILY on electric range and to use the ICE portion when you need MORE RANGE. The problem is US manufacturers don’t give the vehicles large enough batteries. And I know all I did was change the emphasis of his sentence but people in the US miss that completely. Why pay for a PHEV if you’re only going to use the battery for “extra range” you buy a PHEV to save money on gas and only drive on a charge. This is something Chinese premium vehicles are focusing on with PHEV… High KwH packs with upwards of 200Km range meaning the driver can drive on electric every day and has for road trips.
